In recent days Phoenix leaders, well the Mayor of Phoenix Greg Stanton, a staunch democrat, announced that they are considering applying to become a sanctuary city and join the over 300 already in existence.
Well, let’s take a look at some of the research and statistics that are associated with some sanctuary cities around the US and the toll that illegal immigration has taken on Arizona.
There are literally dozens upon dozens of studies out there regarding illegal immigrants and the correlation if any to an increase in crime and increase in spending necessary to address those crimes. Remember, they wouldn’t occur had the illegal immigrant not been in the US illegally in the first place.
The overall perspective of the criminal behavior of illegal aliens is grim. In a 2007 Government Accountability Office study of 55,322 illegal aliens, analysts discovered that they were arrested at least a total of 459,614 times, averaging about eight arrests per illegal alien: 70 percent had between two and 10 arrests, and 26 percent (about 15,000) had 11 or more arrests. Drug or immigration offenses accounted for 45 percent of all offenses, and approximately 12 percent (over 6,600 illegal aliens) were arrested for violent offenses such as murder, robbery, assault, and sex-related crimes.
An FBI crime study on the most wanted criminals across 3 states (Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Albuquerque) revealed that:
- 75 percent of those on the most wanted criminals list in all 3 cities were illegal aliens
- One-quarter of all inmates in CA detention centers are Mexican nationals, as are more than 40 percent of all inmates in AZ and 48 percent in NM
- Over 53 percent of all investigated burglaries reported in CA, NM, NV, AZ and TX are perpetrated by illegal aliens
- 63 percent of cited drivers in AZ have no license, no insurance and no registration for the vehicle. Of that number, 97 percent are illegal aliens. 66 percent of cited drivers in NM have no license, no insurance and no registration for the vehicle. Of that 66 percent, 98 percent are illegals
Keep in mind that illegal immigrants make up roughly 9% of Maricopa County’s population, yet the crimes they commit and the frequency with which they commit them compared to other demographics are statistically through the roof.
According to Sal DiCiccio a staunch Republican on the Phoenix city council and firm Trump supporter, he believes the city staff and/or the city attorney will bury the vote, which is scheduled on February 15, 2017. Oh and don’t forget about SB 1070 which was introduced on April 30, 2010, to this day it is the broadest and strictest anti-illegal-immigration measure in the entire US. Your application has to somehow Trump, get it, that particular bill that’s currently the law.
Think about this Mayor Stanton, the citizens in the state, while divided about illegal immigration have voted time and again against illegal immigration somehow becoming legal. Doesn’t the act of crossing here illegally make you a lawbreaker at the state and federal levels automatically?
Furthermore, letters from almost every major law enforcement agency statewide, staunchly disagree with the idea of even becoming a sanctuary city, which would tie their hands from reporting the most accurate numbers so the problem can be studied and analyzed with greater accuracy in order to develop laws and policies.
One thing Sanctuary cities do provide is a shadow and murky world where true numbers are almost impossible to ascertain by virtue of hiding criminal illegal aliens and the crimes they commit. Are you willing to stake your entire political career over this and be voted out of office if this incredibly stupid policy makes it through? We’ll find out February 15th.
