Judge Awards Phoenix Army Veteran $2.5 Million Dollars Against VA

Hot off the press a judge here in Arizona just awarded a military veteran here in Phoenix $2.5M who sued the VA claiming his now terminal cancer would have been curable had the Phoenix VA diagnosed it sooner.

U.S. Magistrate Michelle Burns ruled today that military veteran Stephen Cooper’s VA nurses and health providers should have ordered more testing.  The full video about the story can be seen here.

Of course, the government lawyers blamed the veteran (you can read the full hearing here) and said the symptoms weren’t there and therefore weren’t detectable by the VA nurse practitioner. This was the first lawsuit brought by a veteran against the VA over this and sets a precedence that they’re not untouchable or above the law.

I’ve been saying all along if Trump doesn’t fix the VA and quick as it was one of his campaign promises he’ll be a one-term president. The VA needs major overhauling, starting with employees being able to be fired.
